When Tracey, a teacher and Kevin, a graphic designer, decided to get married in April 2009, they knew that they’d need something that would combine Tracey’s Chinese culture and Kevin’s Burmese heritage. “In the morning, we played traditional Chinese games at my family home in the New Territories,” says Tracey. Kevin had to undergo a series of “tasks” set by the bridesmaids before he was “allowed” to pick up his bride. After that was a tea ceremony, before paying respect to the elders and heading back to the groom’s house for lunch. “In the afternoon we traveled to the Aberdeen Marina Club, where we took photos before having a signing ceremony with close friends and family,” she adds. “Then we celebrated with cocktails and canapés, before the evening guests arrived at 7:30pm for dinner, the Burmese wedding ceremony, followed by dancing later in the evening.” But what made the celebration particularly special for the couple? “We were so lucky to have so many friends and family flying in from all over the world,” says Tracey. “And we were so grateful to the staff at the AMC, as well as the bridesmaids and groomsmen that helped the day run smoothly.”
